Beautiful Baby Girl - Plano Newborn Photography

I was lucky enough to get to photograph another gorgeous baby girl a couple of weeks ago. She didn't want to sleep at first, but I worked some magic on her with a little help from mom and we got her to drift off. Don't you just love those sweet, squishy newborn bits?

Plano Large Family Mini Session

My sweet friend Meaghan asked me if I would be willing to set up a mini session for her family the day after Thanksgiving, and I happily obliged. Her entire family is full of some of the nicest people I have ever met. I love the fact that while these are 'posed' photos, you can see feel the real love coming from them, and they still feel relaxed and real. They even included a couple of furry family members as well. :)

In other news.. can you believe it's only 4 days until Christmas? This year has really flown by!

Spencer's Grapevine College Senior Session

Yesterday I posted Trevor's session, and today is his older brother Spencer. It's pretty cool they are both graduating around the same time, except Spencer is on the next step. He actually reminds me a bit of my brother Jonathan, and I don't think that's a terrible thing. :)

This was a unique session because it was actually a double senior session! Except, while Trevor is a high school senior, his older brother is a college senior. But you will see him tomorrow.

Trevor is a super nice guy, and he has a truly genuine smile, which I think is awesome. He has a great sense of humor too. We had fun, even though it was chilly and damp out!

I was very flattered when Katie, who is also a photographer, wanted to have me shoot some maternity photos for her during my mini sessions. Fun Sister Session - Plano Mini Sessions

My next mini session was this pair of gorgeous sisters who wanted to get some images done for their parents for Christmas. It's such a great idea, especially as you become an adult and the number of photos taken of you decreases. But, your parents would still love some! So I encourage this kind of thing :) And mini sessions are a perfect way to do it.

Sweet Baby A - Plano Newborn Photographer

I was super excited to meet this little one. She was a tiny little thing, and oh so pretty. How can you not love photographing a squishy little newborn? She made me smile the whole time! I think she's going to make you smile as well :)

2011 Holiday Deadlines

Hello everybody! Can you believe it's already December? This year has really flown by.

It's time to think about the end of year deadlines, so here's a list of mine! I could probably fit in one more session this month (before the 10th) but after that I will not be taking anything else (except those already scheduled and newborn sessions) until January 15th, 2012.

You can still order prints, etc but just be aware that there may be a delay toward the end of the month. :)

Abbie's Bridal Session

Abbie & Judd Part Two - Dallas World Aquarium Reception

After the ceremony, we headed down to do some portraits. I loved how relaxed this whole crew was. The weather was even beautiful, allowing us to get some cool stuff with the greenery outside. After portraits it was time to party. Abbie & Judd's friends and family kept the dance floor moving all night long. I absolutely love a crazy group on the dance floor! It was hard to pick my favorite shots out of all the great ones we got. Be sure to keep an eye out for the adorable octopus cake topper; Abbie made it!

Abbie & Judd's Dallas World Aquarium Wedding Part One

Abbie & Judd are truly one of the sweetest couples I've had the pleasure of meeting. They have a really unique story, as it is Judd's sister Summer that is the connecting piece. Abbie and Summer were roommates in college and are still best friends to this day. What could be better than having your husband and your best girl friend in the same family? You could just see so much love in both of these families as they joined together to witness Abbie & Judd celebrate their union. Another fun family tidbit was that Abbie wore her mother's wedding dress that had been modified to make it just right for Abbie. It was super cool!

The Dallas World Aquarium is a very rad venue, and the venue coordinator was one of the nicest, most helpful ones I have ever worked with!

Zaida's Nine Month Photos & Our First Family Photos!

I've been meaning to share these for a little while now (as Zaida is now over ten months old!) but I've been so busy with my clients I haven't had a chance. So I thought I'd throw up just a few!

I can't believe how fast time is passing. My sweet baby is already over ten months old. As any parent can probably attest, once they are able to be mobile, they are MUCH harder to photograph. So, we really only did a couple of 'sets' for her nine month photos, and it was quite the work out lol. Here are a few of my favorites from the circus theme I set up for her.

Also, earlier this year you might remember I photographed Brandy & Brandon from Bella Pop as part of a trade. Then they shot our first family photos about six weeks ago now, and here are a few of those!

Olivia's Fair Park College Senior Session

Sometimes you meet someone you just click with, and that's how it was with Olivia. We had such a great time on an absolutely beautiful afternoon shooting her portraits. I hesitate to call these 'senior photos' because Olivia is not graduating high school; but she IS about to graduate law school and that's quite the accomplishment. Olivia is definitely heading places in her life. She is smart, funny and gorgeous to boot.

Busy Weekend Sneak Peek!

It was a crazy weekend.. but crazy awesome. I started out on Friday by photographing a gorgeous, tiny, sweet little newborn girl. Then Saturday I had my second set of mini sessions. Meghan & Fritz's Lakewood Theater Reception!

After the important stuff (you know, getting married) it is time to party! Here's the partyin' from Meghan and Fritz's wedding. We popped outside to do a few more portraits and then onto all the fun reception activities.

Meghan & Fritz's Lakewood Theater Wedding - Part Two

After we did the first look, we were able to do some portraits that I just loved! It was so beautiful outside. I love the playfulness I captured with these two. After the portraits, we had a little downtime and it was time for the reason we were there.. time to get married! Meghan and Fritz were married by their friend Colin; and I always enjoy ceremonies done by someone close to the couple.

Meghan & Fritz's Owl Themed Lakewood Theater Wedding, Part One!

It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a wedding, and what do you know, Meghan and Fritz just happened to be getting married. These two are always so full of smiles, which I absolutely love. It's no surprise because they both have a great sense of humor. I absolutely loved the owl theme through out their wedding, and not to mention Meghan's amazing dress as you saw recently in her bridal session. Everything flowed smoothly and everybody had a great time.

Stephen and Susana's Japanese Garden Wedding Portraits

Stephen & Susana's Intimate Japanese Garden Wedding Ceremony

I absolutely love small, intimate weddings. Well, I love all weddings but there is just something so lovely about a wedding with only the couple or just a few family members. That's what Stephen and Susana did in the Japanese Garden at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens. I loved the emotion shown by both Stephen and Susana as well as their family. Susana's parents were even able to be here, all the way from Spain!

The wedding was officiated by Reverend Khrymsun from Alternative Wedding Services.

Happy Halloween everybody! I am so excited to take Zaida on her first Halloween outing tonight. Here's a pretty obvious hint as to what Zaida is dressing up as:

And here's a photo of Zaida at her cousin's birthday party yesterday. It was a superhero theme so I made a Super Zaida onesie and my sister in law Stephanie made capes for all the kids at the party. It even had a pink Z on the back!

Meghan's McKinney Bridal Session

Jill & Houston - Relaxed Allen Family Session

Jill contacted me toward the end of August about setting up a portrait session for her and her son Houston. She told me it was in honor of her birthday and it was the one thing she really wanted. We were finally able to get together at the beginning of October on a lovely, slightly less hot day. I loved watching Jill and Houston interact; you can really tell they have a great relationship! They were both as nice as could be and we had a great time. Here are a few of my favorite images.

Jennifer & Brice's McKinney Military Engagement Session

Okay, after a while you might start to get suspicious, because you see post after post of incredibly good looking people on my blog. I promise you, these are real, everyday people just like you and me but my clients truly are just THAT good looking. Jennifer and Brice are no exception. These two sweet kids are newly engaged and so in love. Just being around them you can tell how comfortable they are with one another. They are also living the all too common story of a girl at home with her soldier stationed overseas. I was so glad to be able to photograph them while Brice was home, so that they could have these photos together to bridge the gap until he's back again!

I mega loved this session and had a hard time narrowing down my favorites to blog, so it's a big one. Enjoy!

Julie & Brian's Houston Wedding - Part Two

As I mentioned yesterday, Julie's father is a deacon in the church. It was cool that he was such an integral part of the church ceremony. You will see him a lot in the following photos! Also Julie & Brian DIY'd their own photobooth that was a big hit at the wedding, even if it did need the occasional tweak :)

Julie & Brian's Houston Wedding!

You might remember Julie & Brian's unique engagement session from just a few weeks ago. Well I headed down to Houston again, this time for their wedding. I was absolutely smitten with Julie's gorgeous dress. It was her grandmother's dress. Can you believe it fits her like a dream? Julie & Brian were married in the same church Julie grew up in, and her father is a deacon in and her mother is librarian in! I love it when people are able to celebrate close to their roots.

Michelle and Dave's Lakeside Maternity Engagent Session!

I absolutely loved this session! Michelle and Dave are expecting a sweet baby in a couple of months and they wanted a session to not only show off Michelle's baby bump but to celebrate their engagement as well. We met up on a warm, but gorgeous, afternoon down at White Rock Lake. Michelle and Dave also brought their current baby, pup Jada. She was such a good girl the whole session :) And a cutie pie to boot.

When Melissa contacted me about doing a family session, I was excited. Chris was actually my boss at the last 'regular' job I worked at. He was truly the best boss one could hope to work for; he really cares about his employees! Chris and the lovely Melissa have two sweet kiddos; Bella and Asher. Melissa also invited her parents, Manuel and Rosalinda, along to the session because they hadn't had any photos done in over twenty years! They were as sweet as could be.

I had a great time shooting this session and I hope you enjoy.

Weekend Sneak Peek

Can you believe it's October? Time for cooler weather (we hope), pumpkins and Halloween! Not to mention it kicks off the holiday season, which I am more excited for than ever since it will be Zaida's first holidays. Eek!

But, enough about me. Here's a sneak peek of my weekend activities. First I headed to Houston for Julie & Brian's wedding. Then on Sunday evening I shot an engagement session for Jennifer & Brice. It was a J & B kind of weekend :) More sneak peek images can be found on facebook.

I had so much fun shooting this gorgeous little guy's one year cake smash session. It was his first time with the 'bad stuff', aka processed sugar and I think he had a lot of fun playing in the brightly colored icing! Seven Tips for a Great Photo Session!

Okay, so you've decided you want to hire a custom photographer to document you and the person or people you love. Awesome! Here are seven tips that will help you maximize your investment and have a successful photo session that produces results you will treasure for a lifetime.

1.Hire a great photographer. Make sure it’s someone who’s style you love, who poses their clients in a flattering way, and produces consistent work. Also, make sure you like them when you talk to them. If you gut ever says they aren’t the one, then don’t be afraid to look somewhere else. This is an investment and it should be a great experience!

2.Be well rested. Don’t stay out late the night before drinking margaritas or martinis. Save them for after your session! This applies double to children (and especially no drinking for them!). If your child is tired during your photo session, you won’t get as good of results as if they were well rested.

3.Be well fed. I don’t know about you, but I get cranky when I’m hungry. Also, if you’re hungry you will tend to want to rush the session so you can leave and eat. You want to be able to focus on your session without the distraction of a growling stomach!

4.Put effort into your appearance. You are investing in these photos to last a lifetime. You want to look like the best possible you that you can. Wear an outfit that fits well, even while sitting down. Get a haircut about a week prior to your session, if you’re due for one. Make sure your nails are clean and trimmed, and this goes for guys too!

5.Don’t argue before your session. We’re all human and sometimes we humans disagree. But try not to get into a negative headspace immediately before your session. While you might still love your significant other even when you fight, it’s harder to be cozy when you’re feeling irritable.

6.Have open communication with your photographer. Let them know your vision for the session or any insecurity you might have about yourself. Trust them to create something beautiful for you, but make sure you share what’s on your mind BEFORE the session instead of running the risk of being unsatisfied afterwards.

7.Relax, be yourself and have fun! Don’t force anything, don’t stress, don’t yell at the kids to smile ‘or else’. Just go with the flow, have a good time and you will get the best results.

Julie & Brian - Offbeat Beer Can & Art Car Houston Engagement Session

One thing I absolutely love is that each of my couples are so unique. They have definite personalities and I am lucky that they introduce me to some cool stuff! Julie & Brian are definitely one of those couples. I went down to Houston to shoot their engagement session and we hit up some awesome locations, and they also brought along one of their art cars. It is a custom made truck that has a personality all it's own! I had a great time and I hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Our first location was the beer can house. It was amazing! It was a project near and dear to Julie's heart because she served on the board when it was restored.

Julie & Brian thought it was funny that their art car was doing a photo bomb. ;)

Six Month Old Analise - Plano Baby Photographer

It was only a few weeks after I had Zaida when we got the call that my sister in law Amber had been taken to the hospital after having a seizure. Long story short, miss Analise was born a full two months early. She spent those first two months in the NICU but finally got to come home in the second half of April. She is constantly growing and changing, and she is such a happy little girl. At six months she is still a petite little flower at just over ten lbs. However, since she was less than three pounds at birth, that's quite the improvement!

Lizz & David's Urban Fort Worth Maternity Session

When Lizz contacted me a few months ago about shooting their maternity photos for their upcoming twins (!!) I was super excited. Not just because I love shooting maternity photos but because I absolutely love these two. I've been photographing them for nearly three years now, from the time they were dating, their wedding and now a maternity session. Not only are they ridiculously good looking, but they are some of the sweetest people you could ever meet. Okay, enough mushy chit chat, let's get on to the photos.

Whew, it's been a LONG time (too long) since I met with my friends at the North Texas Cat Rescue. I finally got to go today and they have TONS of gorgeous kitties that need forever homes. All shapes, sizes, colors and personalities.

Alexis and Davis - Dallas Deep Ellum Engagement Session!

I had a great time braving it in the heat with these two college cuties. They met each other in school while they lived in the same dorm. When he proposed, Davis took Alexis back to the same spot they first met at the dorm. I think that's awfully romantic! They are getting married next spring at the Heard Museum in McKinney, and I know it's going to be both unique and beautiful!

Personal photo recap, Jan - July!

I’ve been meaning to do kind of a personal update since I never post personal photos anymore! Here are some of my personal snapshots that sum up what’s been going on with me the first half of the year..

First, as you all very well know by now.. we had a baby! As you might imagine, she has taken up most of my time and energy since there. Most of the first couple of months of the year were focused on Zaida.

In early April my brother got married. It was so wonderful, not only to capture that day (as you already saw) but to get to spend time around so much family. This photo is actually one I stole off Facebook that my Aunt Karen took of myself and my ‘little’ brothers.

I also got this photo of my Mom with two of her granddaughters. Unfortunately, my brother Robert’s second daughter was still in the NICU at this time (but she’s home and healthy now!).

For Easter we all got together at my Aunt Karen’s house. It still seems surreal at times that now my cousins and my brothers and I are the adults and most of us have kids of our own that run around causing a commotion.

For my first Mother’s Day, Brian took some photos of Zaida and I all dolled up together!

In May, my Mother actually came to visit again! She had a class to attend for her schooling and it was here so we got some bonus time with her. While she was here we got together with my aunts. It was the first time they had been all together in almost four years; since Brian and I got married. So, I snapped a few fun photos of them.

On Memorial day we had a fun day of swimming and eating over at Brian’s parents house and we celebrated Alex’s fourth birthday!

We had known for a few months that my brother Jonathan was going to be heading back to Iraq. He had some in country training for a few weeks, and then had a long weekend to visit before he actually went overseas. On the first weekend in June, we got together for a lunch and my Dad and Mima came as well.

Then we celebrated Brian’s birthday, and Zaida helped him blow out the candles.

In July we headed up to Kentucky for most of a week to attend a family reunion and just spend some quality time with Brian’s family. We had lots of fun and I took tons of photos (of course). I loved driving around the Kentucky countryside and seeing Brian’s family roots!

Katie said this about her photo: "These cameos, the china, and even the hand-crocheted table cloth all belonged to my great-grandmother. When my sister and I were children, she would throw tea parties for us. I was so excited to be picked to be one of only four people at Nienke and Maarten's ceremony. It was just me, the officiant, and Nienke and Maarten! They are a couple of 'dutchies' living here in the Dallas area. They are absolutely adorable and so in love. After the ceremony, we ran around the Arboretum taking photos for a couple of hours, but you'll see those tomorrow! For now, here's part one.. :)

Diana & Rob's Sunny, Love Filled Session!

*tap tap* Is this thing on? Wow, I'm pretty sure that was the longest blog break I have taken.. maybe ever? I am feeling much better now and ready to rock and roll! Let's get started with a session that is near and dear to my heart. One of my dearest, long time friends Diana and her new husband, Rob. They actually got married while Diana was visiting Rob around New Years, while he was stationed in Korea. Diana gave me the full story and trust me, it was indeed like a scene from a movie. They will be having a ceremony with all the bells and whistles later on! Outside of being totally gorgeous, Diana is a super-mega-genius (I'm not joking!) and just a fun person in general. When you are around Diana and Rob it's clear how well they connect with one another, and I am so happy for them both.

We met up in Grapevine on a, not surprisingly, warm day and rocked it out. Check it out for yourself.

Laughter = My favorite. <3

I had climbed up on a train car to get a few shots and on my way down, tragedy struck. I ripped a big hole in one of my favorite summer skirts. At least I didn't expose (haha!) myself. I carried on!

Vivian and Adrian's Food Fight Trash the Dress!

This shoot was bittersweet for me. I was very excited about the fun concept we had, but I am sad this is the last chapter in the Vivian & Adrian wedding photography bonanza! I told them they should come up with a reason to see me again soon! ;) We met up on a warm evening to shoot this super fun trash the dress, where the dress actually got trashed! It was awesome; see for yourself!

Kyley's Sweet Sixteen Photo Party!

I was super excited to shoot these photos. Well, I'm always excited, but I was super excited because I have known Diana for around 8-9 years and she is one of my dearest friends.
