Get to know Jen and Mike - A Mini Engagement Session in Dallas..

And I DO mean MINI! But even in like seven minutes, we got some super cool shots. The sun was heading down and the sky was pink and blue. These shots were shot outside of a strip mall. This is proof you don't need an awesome location for cool photographs. You can tell that Jen and Mike have some killer style. Thanks for meeting with me tonight you guys!

Favorite!

It was really pretty darn dark outside here! I think those are headlight reflections in Jen's eyes

Spread the awesome rockstar wedding photography love!

I have been asked by multiple people if I had a banner they could put on their blogs, myspaces and what not. I LOVE you guys for wanting to spread the rockstar photography goodness. I finally got around to making some cool banners. I made them kind of untraditional sizes, since, well, I’m an untraditional kind of girl!

If you want to snatch a cool banner for your cozy home on the web, just copy and paste the code under the banner of your choice. It’s already hosted on my server, and it’ll automatically link back to the main page at http://www.brandithompsonphotography.com, and even open in a new window. I've got mad geek skills, yes I do!

Thanks guys! You are simply the best!!

Top Chef Finale - Who will be Top Chef??

Well, last week Brian and I were sad to see Fabio pack his knives and go. We loved Fabio's sense of humor and his obvious love for his family (and the fact Brian's family is Italian might have a tiny bit to do with the bias as well).

Tonight it is down to..

Stefan.. the "I'm talented and I know it" one...

Carla.. the slightly wacky but lovable one who's come charging in from the back of the pack..

Hosea.. The one who is obsessed with beating out Stefan..

We are rooting for Carla! If Stefan wasn't such a meanie-pants, I would vote for him, but he is! So, Ms Carla.. good luck!

The most amazing shoes on the planet..

Let me tell you a story. It's a love story of sorts. One day, a few years back, a young woman was browsing the internet, as she often did, and she stumbled upon the most wondrous sight she had ever seen. A pair of shoes unlike any other. A pair of shoes that fulfilled every need that she ever had in a pair of shoes. It was true love. Unfortunately, the shoes and the young lady were only to cross at that time. She tried to put the shoes out of her mind, as a wish that would never come true.

Until, some time later... she was browsing ebay, as she often did, and what to her wondering eyes did appear? The shoes that she had thought would never be hers, in her size, for a quarter of the original price! The girl's heart beat wildly. She placed her bid, and watched the auction with great anticipation. Then the day finally came. She had won the shoes! The girl danced in glee!*

*This is a totally true fact.

These... are the shoes.

I hope you enjoyed that personal, very touching bit of history. I hope it moved you as it moved me. :)

All silliness aside, it is an AMAZING day outside. I just had to take some pictures, so that's why I busted out my favorite shoes on the planet and played around outside. I had the window open, so I could bring some fresh air inside, and Harley was sitting watching me. She was rather upset that I was outside, and she was inside, trapped behind the evil 30 year old screen. (Our house is vintage, we're cool like that.)

I hope you are all having a wonderful week so far!

From the Vault: Pictures of Downtown Dallas

Here are a few pictures I found from when Brian and I had just enjoyed a pretty day outside, taking some pictures of downtown Dallas back on September 1st, 2008.

The beautiful Old Red Courthouse. I love this place!

Flags look cool against a nice blue sky.

This is Thanksgiving chapel, which is totally gorgeous. I haven't been able to get inside it for years but I do have a very old picture I took of the inside, which is what really makes this place cool.

Isn't that gorgeous? I love it!

I've got a test today .. wish me luck :)

Stuff that makes girls (like me) happy!

Today I am going to go off on a bit of a non-photography related road.

We all know the economy is a little rough right now.. For all of us. What's a girl to do when she needs cool new stuff, but she really can't afford a trip to Saks? Well, there are options! Yesterday I was reading my newest Vogue, when low and behold I see that one Mr Alexander McQueen is launching a diffusion line at Target! My heart nearly lept out of my chest! I know Target has been teaming with big name designers for a while, but McQueen happens to be one of my favorites!

You can find the whole collection previewed over at Nylon Magazine but here are a few of my favorites!

I love vests. I have always loved vests. I also love a little jacket. I could totally see myself sporting that jacket to your wedding!

I like this look too, although I'd probably wear it with jeans and not leggings. I can't quite get myself to go the legging route, because I'd feel naked.

Now that you've got some sweet threads (yes, I went there), you need ... shoes! Of course. :)
Payless has been totally rocking the guest designers as well! You probably saw my sweet shoe purchases a few weeks back, two pair were from Payless, including the gladiators.

Here are a few current pairs that Payless has that I really like!

Some other cool places to shop and save your bucks:

ELF Cosmetics - A lot of people have heard about this place. I have ordered from them a couple of times. I didn't like most anything that was 'face' related, but their eye shadows are boss and most of their lip stuff is really good too. Also, their brushes are pretty darn good for being so incredibly cheap!
Sam Moon Trading Co - Not sure if they have actual stores anywhere but Dallas but they sell about every kind of accessory! Handbags, belts, jewelry, lots of fun stuff, for super affordable prices.

So, if you have any cool, inexpensive places you love to shop... post them for me to check out!

Birthday parties and cute furry creatures...

Last night I had a great night hanging out with a few of my girlfriends to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a small, casual event, and we all came in our pajamas, which rules. Personally, I am a big fan of pajamas at parties. It's just more comfortable. For the most part, the pictures are just personal snapshots, but I'll share a few with you.

The birthday girl! Her birthday is actually on February 29th, so she's a leap baby. She's very smart, gorgeous, and obviously a great sport who was willing to wear a plastic tiara.

Our friend who generously lent her apartment for the festivities had some sweet animals. In fact, her dog Sushi tried to steal the show!

Wait.. who's this party actually for?

One of the kitties hiding in the blinds.

I enjoyed spending time with the ladies and just chit chatting. I highly recommend all you girls to schedule some girls nights with your friends! It's pretty darn awesome.

Music Video Friday - Bjork

Here is another artist who is really rad that I haven't posted a video of yet. Bjork is no doubt one of the most unique artists out there!

Here is an older one.. from 1993.

Check out the new customized features you can choose when you embed a youtube video. I can even choose a pink frame to match the rest of the decorating! ;)

TWU + UNT Annual Red Fashion Show benefiting Go Red for Women

Every year, TWU and UNT put on a collaborative fashion show benefiting Go Red for Women, which you probably know, is a group that helps promote awareness about women's heart health. Heart disease is one of the number one leading causes of death in women.

I was actually one of the student models in the show, so I couldn't get actual photos OF the show, but I took a bunch backstage. So, here is your sneak peek into the backstage world of a fashion show. ;)

Of course, all the models had to have rad hair and makeup, courtesy a very talented team of student volunteers.

The majority of the garments were constructed by students of TWU's and UNT's (that includes me!) fashion departments. A couple of the garments were constructed by professors. They were all red, of course, to show support for Go Red for Women!

Discussing coordination of the event.

A girl's got to have shoes! Can't go down the runway barefoot. :)

Made up models waiting for the show to get on the road..

Two of my ladies from school. Yes, they are as much fun as they look. Oh, the dress in the front left hand corner is MY submission for the red show!

The theme of the show was "Dancing with the Go Red Stars" so in between each 'scene' of the show, there were dancers preforming! Here is one of the couples practicing beforehand.

I just thought this was a rad shot! He looks so intent.

To finish us off...Here I am, ready for a fierce runway walk. Do you think Tyra would approve?
